What's Melee?

Super Smash Brothers Melee is a party-fighting game made by nintendo for the Nintendo GameCube. Originally released in 2001, it came out with the console as a launch title. The game features 26 playable characters from various Nintendo and Nintendo adjacent Franchises. The game is up to 4 players, includes single player game modes such as Classic and Training, and features a "Tournament Mode" with up to 32 Players swapping out. The tournament scene for Melee uses a 4-stock, 8 minute, 0 items, 5 stages, setting for the game.
